GolfLogix
Found this site through Google, because I have the same problem. Downloaded Vista software update Monday, and unit will no longer turn on. Changed the battery and unit still will not turn on. Have left messages and emails and now have been holding for 40 minutes and fear, even if I get through will not get any help. Friend has a SkyCaddie, and realize it is not as easy to use as my Logix, plus does not give all the info I want.
I now know this saxophone jazz holding tune all too well.

Golflogix problem
I have had my golflogix for about a month now and have appreciated the support it has given me on the course. However, it has frozen on me....tracking satellites on screen. Does anyone know how to repair this? From this forum, it sounds like the tech support is disappointing to say the least. I have sent them an email but I am not too encouraged by what I have read thus far.

Customer Service
I have experienced the same problems as Steve Two Gloves posted above. I have sent my unit in for repairs, I have been sent another new one and have sent it back to be repaired as well. I am on my 3rd new unit in 14 months. Everytime I have had to call customer service I waited on hold approx. 30 minutes. They have replaced, reset, updated, repaired, reset, etc. at least 3 times per unit.I still have the same problem. In fact they won't even respond to my e-mails anymore. If they would have refunded my purchase price and membership dues for this year, I would have went away. Now that I am being blown off. I will trash this company every chance I get. I manage 2 golf leagues with over 156 players combined. I have asked them to trash the company as well. They have the poorest customer service I have ever experienced! Good Luck with your new purchase.

golflogix gps8
After reading all the testimonials and critics, I cannot believe much of what has been said. I have been using a friends golflogix gps7 for almost 2 years without a single problem. The garmin company customer service dept. has been promt, efficient and helpful. When I first used the gps, I needed information on downloading courses and the general use of the gps. The responded and talked me through each step. I purchased the golflogix gps8 recently and garmin helped me set it up. I have to believe some of the problems are customer lack of communication. I highly recommend garmin golflogix.

Golflogix GPS8
I have had my GPS8 for a couple of weeks. Downloading the software and loading my home course was a snap. Today they notified me by email that my home course had been updated and it took a couple of minutes to reload the new data.
Battery life of the AAs that came with the unit was 4 rounds. With rechargables I get 2 or 3 rounds.
After using it the first day I decided I needed the leather case and went home and ordered it. The next day the case was in my mailbox. That is service.
Accuracy without the WAAS activated is excellent. It is even accurate in the house which is a couple hundred yards from the first tee. Tomorrow I will try it with the WAAS turned on.
This unit was a replacement for a Golfbuddy Pro which was consistently 15 to 35 yards off.

Trying Golflogix for the first time
I am big fan of golf and have never used GPS for golfing. I think it is kind of strange to relay on GPS for something I have a feel for, so is there anyone with good golfing experience who thinks there is a need for Golflogix?

In a word, no, there is not an absolute need for Golflogix. Yardage markers (100, 150, 200) on the course can give you a general idea of how far you are out. However, if exact yardage markers are not available on the fairways, or if your ball is in another fairway (happens to me a lot), then you might want an idea of exactly how far you are away. I play with Golflogix every round, and find that it gives me peace of mind in knowing I have chosen the correct club. You can play without it, but it does give you an advantage.

golflogix software and not responding
Just purchased the golflogix membership and tried downloading the course software to my blackberry. The "download" button on the golflogix website response with the website not being valid. I tried emailing golflogix's customer service dept. and it bounced back that the email address is no longer valid. I wonder if they are out of business. I will try calling them and if I don't get an answer I will update this.

I emailed AND called to try to get a new member code sent to me since I changed iPhones. The response to my email took 5 days...to which the told me to call the technical support line...LOL. So, I tried that, waited on hold for 25 minutes before hanging up. AVOID GOLFLOGIX AT ALL COSTS!!!

installing USB Serial Drivers
Just purchased the golflogix gps 8 and ran into immediate trouble trying to install the drivers. Tried everything including that stated in the troubleshooting section. I made sure that the connector to the unit was secure or so I thought. Finally, I called Tech Support and did not have to wait long. The rep asked me exactly where I was in the process and then proceeded to walk me through. He quickly identified that I was not getting communication between my PC and my unit. He said to make sure that the connection was very tight. I reinserted the connector, pressed hard and still no go. Now....here was the life saver. He said before we assume that it is a bad cable, tell me if you can insert your fingernail between the front of your connector and the end of the unit. Well, I could. He then said to carefully move the connector side to side while pushing until it is seated and it passes the fingernail test. Problem solved. One other important thing. When you download the drivers make sure to close the browser window so that they load to your PC. The reason for this is that the system was designed for Internet Explorer so if you use Firefox or Google Chrome it won't load to the PC but just to the Browser window. So, again, make sure to close the browser window.
Leaving for Florida, Feb. 1, so will let you know how it goes.

customer service
I too have been cut off-literally. Was having downloading problems with my G7. Kept getting messages that there wasn't enough space on my hardware disc. After repeated calls to tech. service, the problem was diagnosed as a registration error even though I had account®. #'s appearing on my home page. I was told to delete the program from my desktop and reinstall after the tech closed and reopened my account. I also informed "ED" that I wanted to select new courses to add to the originals but was told the only option I could have was 1 selection, and that's all he programed. If I add the new course to my list and download it. I lose all my courses. Ed refused to reprogram the whole list of area courses because my year subscription end in approx. 3 weeks. Contract says unlimited downloads per year and they have blatantly refused to honor their responsibilities. They have not responded to numerous emails-so BUYER BEWARE!!!!

Golflogix 1st gen
I envy you guys with the gps8, i have the older version and it has worked fine for 2+ years so i don't feel i have a reason to upgrade. But it does seem from my readings the 2nd gen (gps8) is a bit more accurate - for mine shows accuracy usually around 7 yards vs 3 for gps8.
I contacted Golflogix customer service a few times a year or two ago, when installing the first version onto two machines. They were prompt and emailed me back with instructions for setting up the software in multiple computers - i had to temporarily get 2 accounts and pay for both, and they would refund one of the accounts after i installed the software.
Amazing I am still finding out things about this that may explain why I could not get it to work in Asia.

Poor Backlight and Cannot Track Satellite
I have the green version of the Golflogix and recently it could not pick up the satellite and the screen is very dim. I first wrote customer service and they said I should reset it which I did. It still does not pick up the satellite and the screen is still dim. When I called customer service today the person said it gets stuck and there is nothing you can do about it and they no longer support this model. I doubt the model is even 5-6 years old and it really surprised me they would do nothing about it. This is a big company but appartently do not worry about having a happy customer.

GPS-8
Golflogix is going smartphone apps only. They will not write any new firmware fixes (nor have they for well over a year or 2) for your GPS-7/8 devices. They will all but tell you this over the phone they no longer support your device, but they are happy to bill your credit card without warning for the next year.
If you call to cancel service they will ask you to connect your GPS unit so they can wipe your course data off the PC and GPS unit that you've already paid for. Come on... Any other GPS device sofware updates are pay as you go for UPDATES, it's not a rental agreement in order for Golflogix to keep steady money flowing for zero service provided.
If you are a current frustrated GPS 7/8 user Email me scottyusn@yahoo

Golflogix service
Golf Logix service is non existant. They won't answer their e-mail and they provide on other way of contacting them. My home course data is totally wrong. The graphics are incorrect on every hole. Sandtraps where there are none. No sandtraps or lakes where there are. I have had some success with other courses. I have cancelled my subscription only by voiding my credit card. If they would provide a minimum level of security i would continue to use the product.

I have had my GPS for 4 years
In December of 2007 I bought my two sons a Golf Logix GPS7 and my wife bought me one. The only trouble had between the 3 of them has been my younger sons unit. His screen would not show yardages. He went to the internal settings and made a change in the setup menu and after that it worked fine. The 3 units have worked flawlessly even after being dropped on the ground from a moving golf cart, dropped in water, and getting wet in torrential downpours of rain. Once the Golf Logix computer software did not work. We merely deleted the old version and reinstalled a new version from the internet and it worked fine. I am really surprised to hear of so many people having so much trouble with their systems. Ours have worked fantastically for years and we certainly have gotten our moneys worth out of them. Don't Buy Golflogix App for Smartphones
Why:
1. Pictures of greens are not up to date and their orientation changes from green to green.
2. Seems to use more battery power than earlier version.
3. Old version automatically went to the next hole. No user action required. the new version requires the user to enter the score for the hole that was just completed or to hit the next button. REALLY DUMB on Golflogix's part. They need to reinstall the automatic function or make the old version - much easier to use - available to those who want it.
4. Customer support's responses to my e-mails about the automatical hole switching feature were totally non-responsive and did not explain about needing to enter a score to automatically go to the next hole. BOO ON GOLFLOGIX.
In case you can't guess. I am totally down on Golflogix. Their attempted improvements to the software are a BUST. Avoid Golflogix App is my advice.

My GPS 8 just will not locate satellites anymore. I re-registered with Golflogix (and paid the statutory fee)and have also download the requisite software (again. I have reloaded my selected golf courses BUT the unit just will not move off the "locating satellites" screen. Is the unit "kaput" ?
