What are the necessary things to consider in buying a GPS gadget? Can anyone help me?

First, you need to remember in buying a GPS gadget is, where are you going to use it, I mean, you wouldn't buy a GPS without knowing where are you going to use it. Secondly, you need first to canvass the price range of the GPS Product you are going to use, you might be able to look for cheaper GPS in other stores.

How many channels do I need?
Minimum of how many channels I need to know that I have purchased a better GPS Unit?

Twelve channels in order for your GPS to function efficiently, because less than 12 channels would be very difficult when your traveling away from the city or there are some obstacles that crossed your paths like in a jungle where large trees are blocking the signals.
