GPS for aircrafts
I read a story about a pilot of an aircraft encountered an undetermined weather problem in a mountainous terrain in South America. He was able to land in a field that no instrument for landing just using his handheld GPS and chart. Luckily this gadget has helped him what could have been a fatalistic accident that could endanger his life.

Re: GPS for aircrafts
The GPS works from satellites thereby it can determine air crafts's dimensional position. It measures the distance by calculation of the time it will take to navigate and time frame by radio signal from satellite to make one-way trip to GPS receiver in the airplane.

Re: GPS for aircrafts
How can a pilot depend on GPS for their navigational flights? Is this workable and accurate?

Re: GPS for aircrafts
As I have mentioned earlier, GPS is computer based navigation system that can be accessed and controlled by pilots. It provides precise horizontal positioning for the aircraft. These are one of the factors that cannot be determined by aircrafts pilots by themselves.
