How accurate are GPS?
I have a Garmin Nuvi 760 and I don't like it that much because I think that it is not very accurate. I bought it because it really had positive feedbacks from its owners. I have asked other owners of this model and they also seem to experience this problem as well. How about you? Do you have any experiences related to this? Or do you know any good model which can be very accurate even when I am far away from the city? I want to replace my Garmin already with something that I can depend on more.

What exactly do you mean by Garmin's lack of accuracy? I used to own a model like that before and I had problems with the accuracy of the GPS when it comes to the information about the streets that I am going to such as giving me wrong information about the streets, missing streets, incorrect name of the streets, and many others. I have switched to TomTom now and I like this one better for it gives me more accurate information. It may mess up once in a while but not as often as Garmin. Garmin messed up all the time.

Yes, that is exactly my problem with my Garmin. It gives me all the wrong information about the streets. I was looking for a specific street one day and I checked my Garmin about it and it gave me the wrong information. The street was not on the GPS, I hope you get what I mean. I'm not really familiar with all the technical stuff. Anyway, so yeah, it gave me the wrong information and I got really lost. It was supposed to help me find my way but instead it got me lost. It told me that the street was missing but when I checked it out, it was there.

I never had any problem regarding the accuracy of my Garmin. I also have the same model as yours and it worked perfectly fine in giving me accurate directions and information about locations. It only messed up one time when it told me different information, but that was only once and it never happened again. Did you update your GPS maps when you first purchased the unit? Well, I did even if it cost a lot because it can save me more money and time in the long run. I suggest that you do. Maybe that is the problem with your Garmin.

I got my Garmin GPS last Black Friday and I am not sure if it was updated already. I just immediately grabbed one without asking anything about it to the sales associate. Oh, man. Is there any way that I can resolve this? I don't want to change into another unit because I am saving up right now. Or, if possible, could I update the maps of my GPS so that it would be more accurate? I really need a GPS badly.
