Re: Voice activated GPS
I am not sure but I think TomTom, Magellan, and Garmin must have it. I passed through some news about these new technology but I cannot trust any new technology on this.

Re: Voice activated GPS
I agree with duduy5. Any new voice technology is quite difficult. Normally, you have to train your equipment to recognise your voice so it can understand you and this takes time.

Text to speech, speech to text
They usually have the capability to read text like streets and popular places. But voice command? Hmmn, that would really be a treat! I can just talk and concentrate on my driving rather than pointing and looking at the small sreen on my dashboard.

You might want to check Gemini Nuvi 880
This dearie has accurate voice recognition. You can ask "Where am I" so you can start your navigation. Not only that, you can can get to all other functions using your voice so your hands are on the wheels.

To lhinaqt:
Have you tested this toy already? If you have, I want to know how to setup the voice recognition. Do you have to go through setting up by actually recording your voice onto it? How accurate is it?

Re: Gemini Nuvi 880
Hi petzki!
Actually, I haven' tried it yet. I was planning to buy one but don't have the time yet. I just saw their review at CNET and this seems to be an exciting baby to have. Will update you once I get a hand of it.

Re: Gemini Nuvi 880
Yo lhina! thanks. Where are you located anyway? Perhaps we can meet sometime. Do you have an email address or mobile? Sorry to be so upfront. But I guess it is not bad to make friends on the forum.

Re: Gemini Nuvi 880
Ha ha ha. There are many dating sites around. But I am from Santa Clara CA.
However, perhaps you can buy the Nuvi first then we can meet and talk about it. That way, we have something to discuss about on our "first date" :)
