First time GPS user
So, I just got off from this online shopping site and finally, I have bought my very own GPS device! Yahoo! I won’t be getting the device until a couple of days from now though. For those who have their GPS devices already, what are the first things that you have to do before you can actually use your GPS device? Are there precautions or important reminders before using it?

For newly bought GPS devices
Congratulations on your new GPS device! Well, various models have different instructions in the manual. But since I do not know what exactly is the model you bought I’m just gonna give you the basic instructions for new GPS devices.
During the first time that you will turn your device on, you will have to set the time. After which, you’re device should automatically be able to acquire the position of the satellites. It usually just takes a minute or two for you to be able to start using your GPS device. If in case you are already on the road when you started using your GPS device, you need to stop and go out of the car so that the device can properly acquire signal. Although, since GPS devices these days are already well developed, a lot of the latest versions today would be able to get proper signal even if you do not go out of your car.
